Digital Designs 3500 Series Product Review

The Digital Designs 3500 Series Sub-woofer has to be one of the nicest sounding sub-woofers I’ve ever had the chance to use and listen to. They range from 10″ all the way up to a 18″, the models being : DD-3510e-2 (10″), DD-3512e-2 (12″), DD-3515e-2 (15″) and the DD-3518e-2 (18″).

And its no wonder they sound so amazing when the same technology that goes into the 9500 Series voice-coils are used in the 3500 Series too!

The motor system used in the 3500 Series also utilizes the Digital Designs exclusive FREE FLOW COOLING SYSTEM, they have increased the number of vents to spread the heat dissipation over a wider area.

Separate cooling vents machined into the voice coil, top plate and pole piece focus cooling air into the magnetic gap and around both sides of the voice coil with every up and down movement. This cooling system actually lowers the working temperature of the voice coil, thereby lowering the stress on the entire audio system. The harder the sub-woofer works, the more air is blown onto the coil wire!

I could go on about every bit of technology that is put into the 3500 Series but I would end up writing a massive novel, even our MD holds the 3500 Series in high regard and even is running a DD-3510e-2 that he has squeezed into a DD-LE310 enclosure with some modification. And I must say it sounds amazing, there is so much definition and clarity to the bass it makes perfect sense why the 3500 Series is one of the most popular Digital Designs Sub-woofers in NZ!
