The Edge - Hand Made in Canada (Special Order Only)
Overview
Pure lines, beautiful aesthetics, elegant and yet a true open baffle design. Our Edge Open Air loudspeakers were born from an open baffle that lost its large panels and gained some brain. A dream come-true.
Most loudspeakers are built on the same principle in some sort of box with a port. This design called “bass reflex” is very popular and the best of these play real well. But if you want to live breathtaking musical adventures and like to live on the edge, we think you will love our new Edge loudspeakers.
Part of our Open Air line, and like our other models, our Edge is a fully active design and the drivers play in free air. Using a very high-end digital signal processor and latest generation Class D amplifiers, all parts of the system are precisely matched to offer the best musical precision, time coherence and clarity you can get. A result unattainable with passive components. Adding a free air design propels the experience to pure musical bliss. The Edge simply vanish and the artists perform LIVE in your listening room. Become part of the music.
The Scan speak Illuminator tweeter provides excellent imaging at all positions and its frequency response reaches 30 kHz. Both mid-bass and bass drivers offer extreme linear cone excursion to sustain the high demands of the A.I.R. architecture.
All drivers are perfectly integrated in time and phase, with no baffle to restrict high and mid frequency dispersion. The result is an incredibly airy and large soundstage that seems to float into the room. Some call it holographic acoustics and indeed SAKURA gives that feeling of really being at the concert or in the studio with the artist.
EDGE’s central control unit comes with first-class components from Hypex, Analog Devices, XMOS and AKM.
Our Analog Devices SHARC DSP is used to optimize each driver’s amplitude, impulse, time and phase response. it sports eight 32-bit/768kHz SOA AKM4495 DACs.
Hypex NCORE™ amplifiers are directly connected to each drivers’ voice coils. Without any power-robbing, phase-shifting, passive crossover parts in the signal path, SAKURA delivers blindingly fast sound reproduction and lifelike immediacy.
The CCU accepts connections through balanced/unbalanced analog, S/PDIF coax IN and OUT, XMOS USB Class 2.
