First was the\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #00266d;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/geoffreymorrison\/2014\/04\/21\/oppo-pm-1-review\/\" target=\"_self\">PM-1 headphones<\/a>, then the\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #00266d;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/geoffreymorrison\/2014\/08\/11\/oppo-ha-1-review\/\" target=\"_self\">HA-1 headphone amp<\/a>. The cheaper PM-2 and -3 (due soon) followed.<\/p>\n<p>The HA-2 is roughly the size of an Apple iPhone 6+, the aluminum chassis is 2.5-inches wide, 6.2 long, and a half an inch thick. It\u2019s wrapped in real leather.<\/p>\n<p>Inside there\u2019s lots of audiophile goodness. The\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #00266d;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.esstech.com\/index.php\">ESS Sabre<\/a>\u00a0ES9018-K2M asynchronous DAC is the mobile version of the one found in the desktop HA-1. It\u2019s capable of PCM decoding CD-quality tracks (44.1 kHz\/16-bit) up to 384 kHz at 24-bit (and lower sampling rates up to 32-bits), and everywhere in between. It can even decode DSD64, DSD128, and even DSD256.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5488 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-2.jpg\" alt=\"Oppo-HA-2-2\" width=\"600\" height=\"1240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-2-145x300.jpg 145w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-2-495x1024.jpg 495w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">To get these files\u00a0<em style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: italic;\">to<\/em>\u00a0the HA-2, there are three inputs: Analog (3.5mm), and two USBs. One USB for iOS gear, and the other for everything else (including computers and Google Android gear as long as it has\u00a0<a style=\"font-weight: inherit; font-style: inherit; color: #00266d;\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/USB_On-The-Go\">USB OTG<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">To get it the audio out again, there are two 3.5mm outputs: one for headphones, the other a line out so you can connect to desktop speaker or any other audio gear (using the HA-2 as a straight DAC).<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\">Power-wise, there should be enough for any headphone you\u2019d want to bring with you anywhere. Into 16 Ohms the Class AB amp puts out 300 milliwatts. Into 32 Ohms, 220 mW. Into 300 Ohms, 30 mW.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #000000;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-5489 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-3.jpg\" alt=\"Oppo-HA-2-3\" width=\"600\" height=\"382\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/Oppo-HA-2-3-300x191.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The rechargeable battery stores 3000 mAh, which Oppo claims is good for 13 hours if you\u2019re using the analog input (probably not how most people will use this), and 7 hours if decoding digital sources (far more likely). Using fast charging tech, Oppo claims the HA-2 can recharge to 75% capacity in 30 minutes, or 90 minutes to go from empty to full charge.
