Sometimes when you put a Single-Din<\/strong> Head-Unit<\/strong> into a car it can still look\u00a0slightly odd or even out of place even though you have the correct fitting kit, but at the same time can’t justify having a Double-Din DVD Player<\/strong> at the extra cost can become a little annoying.<\/p>\n

Sony have solved this problem by releasing a Double-Din Head-Unit<\/strong> with more features than you could shake a stick at and at a very affordable price, this Head-Unit<\/strong> is the Sony WX-GT80UI<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When I first saw the WX-GT80UI<\/strong> I thought this is a very\u00a0appealing Head-Unit<\/strong> to the eyes, it has that simple but functional look to it that gives you that familiar feeling that you get from all the Single-Din Sony CDX-GT Models<\/strong>. This feeling is what I love about Sony<\/strong>, since if you have used one of the Sony CDX-GT Models<\/strong> you will be able to use the WX-GT80UI<\/strong> like you have always had it in your car!<\/p>\n

Like all Sony Head-Units<\/strong> the display is easy to read and having the option to change the display and key illumination is always a nice option to have to since most people like having it set to the same colour as either there interior lighting or gauge cluster.<\/p>\n

The Sound Quality<\/strong> is just amazing\u00a0especially\u00a0when you take into account the price point of the WX-GT80UI<\/strong>, like all the higher end Sony Head-Units<\/strong> it has EQ7<\/strong> (7-Band Equalizer) which makes getting your\u00a0preferred\u00a0sound that much easier. The Listening Position<\/strong> function is a great feature also and I was blown away how of a difference it made when I set the sound stage to be at the front seats.<\/p>\n

The Rear Bass Enhancer<\/strong> function is a very interesting setting that puts a low pass filter onto the rear door speakers making them work like mini Sub-Woofers<\/strong> to give you that little bit more low end if you don’t have a Sub-Woofer<\/strong> installed. What caught me off guard was the Sub-Woofer Direct Connection<\/strong> feature as it lets you run a low-powered Sub-Woofer<\/strong> off one of the rear speaker cables, this feature I couldn’t believe until I actually tried it out myself and I was very surprised by how well the little 8″ Sub-Woofer<\/strong> ran off the WX-GT80UI<\/strong>!<\/p>\n

Overall the WX-GT80UI<\/strong> is a very impressive Double-Din Head-Unit<\/strong> with more features than some Single-Din Head-Unit’s<\/strong> that cost almost double the price! Being easy to use and nice on the eyes is always a bonus but what I truly love about this Head-Unit<\/strong> is that it has three 5 Volt Pre-Out’s<\/strong>. This is very important to myself since I usually amplify everything in my cars and to top it off it is priced to be very affordable!<\/p>\n
