Writing a product review on the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/DD_M4a_Discontinued_2014_2015_\">Digital Designs M4a<\/a><\/strong> is slightly different in this case since I have been running two in <strong>ABTEC3<\/strong> for about a year now and have used them for everything from <strong>SPL<\/strong>, <strong>Ground-Pounding<\/strong> to just playing <strong>Ordinary Everyday Music.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3126\" title=\"M4a-1\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-1.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-1-300x179.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The build quality of the <strong>M4a<\/strong> is just flawless, not just aesthetically\u00a0either but also in how it preforms too! Over the last year I have powered many Sub-Woofer setups with the <strong>M4a<\/strong>, including: <strong>4 x DD-510-D4&#8217;s, 4 x DD-512-D4&#8217;s, 1 x DD-9518-D1, 1 x DD-z18<\/strong>\u00a0(the list goes on too) and has always provided plenty of power no matter what\u00a0<strong>Ohms<\/strong>\u00a0it was run at too!<\/p>\n<p>As stated before I don&#8217;t just use a <strong>M4a<\/strong> for our <strong>SPL<\/strong> setup that has netted us <strong>154.7dB Officially<\/strong> (We use 2 x <strong>M4a&#8217;s<\/strong> for this) but I Daily <strong>ABTEC3<\/strong> driving a <strong>DD-9518-D1<\/strong> with a <strong>M4a @ .5 Ohm<\/strong> and it\u00a0absolutely loves it! Anybody that knows me knows I like my music <strong>LOUD<\/strong>, so <strong>LOUD<\/strong> that the windshield in the <strong>Toyota Vitz<\/strong> is usually flexing as I commute to and from <strong>ABTEC<\/strong> everyday!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-2.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3127\" title=\"M4a-2\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-2.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-2-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As far as sound quality goes the <strong>M4a<\/strong> lives up to the <strong>Digital Designs<\/strong>\u00a0motto of <strong>True To The Source!<\/strong> I do understand an amplifier can&#8217;t be judged on sound quality alone, but in my experience with the <strong>M4a<\/strong> and the Sub-Woofers I&#8217;ve used with it have produced beautiful sounding Bass. Even down to the low <strong>40Hz-20Hz<\/strong> that I love the most!<\/p>\n<p>What amazes me with the <strong>M4a<\/strong> is where most <strong>High-Output Amplifiers<\/strong> are rated at <strong>14.4v<\/strong> or even higher, the <strong>M4a<\/strong> is still rated at <strong>12-14.v<\/strong> which makes it ideal for everyday use. At <strong>12v<\/strong> the <strong>M4a<\/strong> makes <strong>5200w RMS @ 1 Ohm<\/strong>, at <strong>14.4v<\/strong> it easily makes over <strong>7000w RMS @ 1 Ohm<\/strong> and some people have even clamped their <strong>M4a&#8217;s<\/strong> at just under <strong>8000w RMS @ .5 Ohm<\/strong> on <strong>14.4v<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-3.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3128\" title=\"M4a-3\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"450\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-3.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-3-300x225.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>SPECIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Bridged: NA<\/li>\n<li>Channels: 1<\/li>\n<li>Cont Power at 1 Ohm: 5,200W x 1 @ 12v<\/li>\n<li>Damping Factor: &gt;150<\/li>\n<li>Dimensions (Inches): 27.625L x 9.13W x 2.5H<\/li>\n<li>Dimensions (Metric): 702L x 232W x 63.5H<\/li>\n<li>Dynamic Power: 9500W<\/li>\n<li>Efficiency Thru Output: 87%<\/li>\n<li>Input Sensitivity: 0.15v &#8211; 5v<\/li>\n<li>Model: M4a<\/li>\n<li>Shipping Weight: 36 lbs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-4.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3129\" title=\"M4a-4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-4.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/M4a-4-300x200.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Overall the <strong>M4a<\/strong> in my personal opinion is the ultimate amplifier for multiple uses, be it <strong>Ground pounding<\/strong>, <strong>SPL<\/strong> or even powering your daily <strong>SQ<\/strong> setup the <strong>M4a<\/strong> will have more than enough power for your setup. If some how you need more power just add another <strong>M4a<\/strong> and strap them together for double the power!<\/p>\n<p>On an ending note I consider myself lucky that I get use not only one but two <strong>M4a&#8217;s<\/strong> in my daily, because here in <strong>New Zealand<\/strong> there isn&#8217;t that many people that drive around with an easy <strong>10,000w RMS<\/strong> on a daily basis&#8230; Yet!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Usually when I do a review on a product I will run it in one of the work vehicles for a week or two testing out different settings and getting a general feeling of how it functions, sometimes I even push the items to its limits.
