Last week after a long\u00a0discussion with Ashley Burrell<\/a><\/strong> a\u00a0decision was made to change the look of the Lower Hutt Showroom<\/a><\/strong> a touch.<\/p>\n

This\u00a0meant not only taking the Digital Designs<\/a> DD-Z18-D1.5<\/a><\/strong> out of the the Pajero (ABTEC1<\/strong>), but it also meant that we had to carpet it so it didn’t look out of place next to all the other carpeted boxes.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Once the Z18<\/a><\/strong> and 9512<\/a><\/strong>‘s boxes were all carpeted, it was time to drive them over to Lower Hutt. When we arrived Ashley<\/strong> soon realised he had forgot his keys, lucky for us Darryl Burrell<\/strong> wasn’t to far away.<\/p>\n

While waiting for the keys to arrive I couldn’t help but text Johnny<\/strong> to have a laugh at Ashley’s<\/strong>\u00a0expense,\u00a0while you might think this is mean I found it amusing at the time since Ashley<\/strong> NEVER forgets anything!<\/p>\n

Not long after Johnny<\/strong> had turned up and we all sat in his Legacy admiring the sound that was coming out of his new Johnnybox sub-woofer enclosure<\/strong>, next thing we knew Darryl<\/strong> had arrived and it was time to get to work.<\/p>\n

The first job was removing a Digital Designs DD-3510-d2<\/a><\/strong> from a old box so Johnny<\/strong> can size it up for a Johnnybox<\/strong> but I will leave that for another blog.<\/p>\n

Next up was measuring up the showroom just to make sure the Z18<\/strong> could fit, after shuffling a few things around\u00a0it was time to\u00a0disassemble the old Z12<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0“Robot”. It didn’t take long till the head-unit and speakers had been removed off the Z12<\/strong> box and attached to the Z18<\/strong>‘s box.<\/p>\n

While Ashley<\/strong> was doing the Z12\/18<\/strong> swap, Johnny<\/strong> and I decided it would be cool to invert the Z12<\/strong> in its box so everyone could see the motor. I must say the Z Series<\/a><\/strong> must be one of the coolest looking sub-woofers when inverted!<\/p>\n

By now Ashley<\/strong> had the NEW Z18 <\/strong>“Robot” wired and ready to test so while Ashley<\/strong> and Johnny<\/strong> modified the Z12<\/strong>‘s box a touch I spent a good hour playing\u00a0various types of music on the Z<\/strong> ranging from Dubstep to underground hip-hop and even some Pink Floyd to mix it up a bit.<\/p>\n

There is something amazing about the Z18<\/strong> that can not be put into words, if you ever get the chance to listen to some of your favourite songs on one you will know what I mean here. And as happy as I was to be able to turn up the Z18<\/strong> and just stand there in complete awe, I was just as sad when it finally hit me like a ton of bricks to the head that I would no longer have the Z18<\/strong> in the back of my daily driver.<\/p>\n

With the Showroom all finished and cleaned up it was time again to lock-up but before we left I had to play one more song on the Z18<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you are ever in the Lower Hutt\/Alicetown<\/strong> area feel free to pop into the Showroom, check out the Z18<\/strong> and Z12<\/strong> for yourself and ask one of the team to give you a demo. But if you happen to drop by on a\u00a0Saturday you might find me standing there in awe once again\u00a0reminiscing about when the Z18<\/strong> was mine to use on a daily basis!<\/p>\n
