{"id":1662,"date":"2012-08-07T15:40:37","date_gmt":"2012-08-07T03:40:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/?p=1662"},"modified":"2015-06-27T11:02:37","modified_gmt":"2015-06-26T23:02:37","slug":"our-first-spl-demo-sound-truck","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/our-first-spl-demo-sound-truck\/","title":{"rendered":"Our First SPL Demo Sound Truck!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in mid 2000 <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/thirty-years.php\" target=\"_blank\">Ashley &#8216;Mad Bass&#8217; Burrell<\/a><\/strong> brought\u00a0a new company vehicle, this vehicle was a <strong>Isuzu Wizard<\/strong>. The <strong>Wizard<\/strong> spent many a year doing everything from daily duties, driving rep&#8217;s around to hauling audio equipment around <strong>NZ<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>After 6 years of work duties <strong>Ashley<\/strong> thought it would be good to give the <strong>Wizard<\/strong> a bit of an overhaul, including a full <strong>SPL<\/strong> audio install, some sign-writing and the biggest wheels they could find at the time!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s505.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-2171 alignnone\" title=\"s505\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s505.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"415\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s505.jpg 415w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s505-300x143.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 415px) 100vw, 415px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>First thing on the cards was getting it sign written and getting the biggest set of chrome wheels available, I&#8217;m\u00a0personally not a fan of chrome wheels but must say I think these wheels actually suit the <strong>Wizard<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s605.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2172\" title=\"s605\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s605.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"483\" height=\"399\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s605.jpg 483w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s605-300x247.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 483px) 100vw, 483px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Next on the cards (no pun intended) was getting the door-cards customised since <strong>Isuzu<\/strong> never intended for two set&#8217;s of\u00a0components to be installed in the doors.\u00a0This problem was easily fixed with some plywood, fibre glass and a lot of time!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s510.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2173\" title=\"s510\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s510.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"327\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s510.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s510-300x163.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Since the <strong>Wizard<\/strong> was going to be <strong>Ashley&#8217;s new Demo Sound Truck<\/strong> there was going to be no need for a boot, so the whole boot was utilised to fit 4 sub-woofers, 4 bridgeable 2-channel amplifiers, 1 bridgeable 4-channel amplifier and an extra battery to help power all the amplifiers!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s514.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2174\" title=\"s514\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s514.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"333\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s514.jpg 600w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s514-300x166.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As you can see a lot of fibre-glass was used to make the boot look as tidy as possible, personally I think it looks like it came from the factory this way apart from the colour\u00a0scheme that makes it stand out. Not that standing out is a bad thing, being a demo car it is to be expected!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s507.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2175\" title=\"s507\" src=\"https:\/\/www.abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s507.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"537\" height=\"273\" srcset=\"https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s507.jpg 537w, https:\/\/abtec.co.nz\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/08\/s507-300x152.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 537px) 100vw, 537px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By now you are most likely wondering why the truck has <strong>JVC<\/strong> plastered all over it and also is filled to the brim with its products? Well the answer to that is because <strong>Ashley<\/strong> at that stage was <strong>JVC&#8217;s National Sale&#8217;s &amp; Marketing Manager<\/strong> and eventually became there <strong>Managing Director<\/strong> for <strong>NZ<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>So it made perfect sense at the time for them to sponsor the truck. <strong>Ashley<\/strong>\u00a0eventually moved on from the <strong>JVC<\/strong> product and this truck selling it onto a local Porirua\u00a0resident. I still even see it driving around Porirua once in a while!<\/p>\n<p>At the time the Demo Truck was capable of doing <strong>145dB<\/strong> in <strong>SPL<\/strong> (Sound Pressure Level) tests which was a very\u00a0respectable number back then, today though we are getting <strong>150dB+<\/strong> from 4 entry level <strong>Sony<\/strong> sub-woofers &amp; also from single <strong>Digital Designs<\/strong> sub-woofers!<\/p>\n<p>It is amazing how the car-audio game changes over the years and I also can&#8217;t wait to see how our current Demo Truck ends up once it is finally finished, which in the last few months has had over 6 different set-ups in it but I will leave that for another blog!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in mid 2000 Ashley &#8216;Mad Bass&#8217; Burrell brought\u00a0a new company vehicle, this vehicle was a Isuzu Wizard.
